Some help with Algebra :)
Posted By Luana on May 28, 2010
Since I’ve been doing a lot of talking about Mathematics and Algebra on this blog – because of my studies – this time I want to offer some help and resources to all of my friends who are in high school or college and need Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 help.
For a resource, I would suggest TutorVista.com, as it’s the only one I know so far that offers a monthly tutoring package for only $99.99/mo. On TutorVista, you can get a tutor to assist you with all the Algebra 1 help you need, and with any kind of
Algebra 1 answers and Algebra 1 problems you may encounter along your learning process. Same can be said for Algebra 2 help, also available on TutorVista. Algebra 2 problems and Algebra 2 answers are provided by the tutors and their learning materials, and assisted with through the whole course.
Regarding some Algebra 1 help I promised, here’s a small paragraph I’m offering to help you with equations.
Hope I can start a learning tips site sometimes soon anyway.
First Degree Equations
A first degree equation is an equation in the form ax + b = 0.
Let’s work out an example together, to see how to solve it. It’s very simple.
Example: 3x + 2 = 0.
Given this first degree equation, what you want to do by solving is to isolate the x (which is unknown) and give it a value. We do this with these simple 3 steps:
1. Take the + 2 to the right side, by changing its sign: 3x = - 2
2. Now, you need to isolate the x, because it is shown as a product of 3 and x. To isolate it, you need to divide left and right side by 3, because by doing so, you will obtain (3/3)x on the left side, and you should know already that a number divided by itself gives 1 as a solution. Hence: (3/3)x = (-2)/3
3. Last step; just finish your simplification and you’ve found the searched value for x: x = (-2)/3
See you soon!
