Because I have enough

Posted By on February 25, 2011

I’m sorry to begin this new entry with a rant-ish tone, but it seems like the web host I used to trust with my whole heart – Nolimitshost.info – is turning into a junk-host. I visited its homepage a few days ago, and it’s still showing a plain directory. How’s that possible? The staff had no time to upload a simple index.php page in two months of time? O_O I can’t believe my eyes. Also, that directory is splatting files containing crucial server information on the world’s face! That’s bread for hackers, and you know what I mean. Besides… clients are complaining and what you do is suspending the support site (client.nlharea.com)? X_X I’m disgusted.

Needless mentioning the fact that I have been looking around for another cheap web hosting provider in the meantime. I need a master reseller, and so far, RewindHost.com seems to meet my needs. I may transfer my entire master reseller currently on Nolimitshost.info there. I’m tired with the lack of competence and security check on that provider.

I realize some of you guys wondered WHY I have not moved away from NLH months ago, when the crazy downtime plus hacker attack almost destroyed years of work. Well, the answer is simple: because NLH was created by a friend of mine, Ems, who put so much effort and years of experience into it. She’s a kind soul, and I truly feel bad for the way the fruit of her efforts has come to be… all because of her staff’s lack of care and competence! Unfortunately, Ems is not around; I don’t know whether she’s working away or if she’s ill… all I know is that she hasn’t been online for almost a year, and her staff is not doing a good job at all. I hope she comes back sometimes, because her hosting business NEEDS her. Every NLH client NEEDS her.

It might take a month or two before I move out of NLH for good. All I can say, is that I hope Ems will be back before I do. Because really, I have enough of this story.

Yeah, what happened to NLH was pretty awful. I don’t think they’re planning on coming back, to tell you the truth. And mostly everyone will be super wary of them now.

I don’t know about Rewindhost. My host is there on a master reseller, and I’m a reseller under her (which is also where you host rurushu! :D ) and lately there has been quite a lot of downtime. Oh, I know that 100% uptime isn’t really possible, but the downtimes has been occurring about three times every week. :( I’m thinking of moving to Surpass hosting on a reseller plan soon.

I didn’t know the owner of NLH like you did, but it must be pretty awful to see your work and effort just go down like that.

I’m sorry about what happened. I know how crazy this has been and I heard about the client area being shut down too. I don’t think the staff are dealing with this properly. :( And master resellers are not cheap, so I’m sorry you will have to go out of your way to have a look and everything. It isn’t possible for you to just have a reseller though, or are you hosting some people or are there other features I might not know of?

I never knew who founded NLH but it’s sad that this has happened to something she started. If I were her I’d be disappointed; but I hope that she’s okay and that if she comes back she can sort this out.

I am not sure about RewindHost but I have heard one person complain about their downtime.

*hugs* best of luck with everything. I would have moved ASAP but I know how hard it can be to find a host with a master reseller available.

PS. Ah, I’ll be letting DreamingLess.com go. I don’t want to sell it out and I just want to let it expire. Aquapheric is settled now and I’m sure the traffic has been redirected a lot. I thought about the .com/.net difference and how people prefer .com these days; I don’t really care for SEO anymore though – it really doesn’t matter to me, just that I have a lovely place to put my writings.

I will definitely let you know if my book gets published! For now, writing writing writing!

The sad truth of the matter is this: “Companies” that provide dirt-cheap reseller and master reseller options aren’t going to last. They can’t tolerate the demand or the security risks.

It might seem noble, or just like a quick buck, to offer services so low compared to big names out there. But in the end you’re just going to be hurting your own company name, and the poor souls you host.

I’m all for independent and small companies. But I’ve seen too many of these tiny hosts go down. I think I’ve just been numbed and turned unsympathetic after seeing it happen left and right.

I would also like to add this: If you’re spending a lot of time and effort on multiple sites, multiple domains, and multiple projects that are worth your years of hard work, I would not go with another small host. I just don’t have faith in them any more. I would give my projects a secure home. Give love to your sites, and less stress to yourself and choose a more reputable company.

I would also not recommend Rewindhost. I would recommend a VPS, honestly. Take a look at VPSLatch, they’ve been amazing. They include free WHM/cPanel as well.

Sorry to hear that you’re having problems with your host. I had problems with the host I had before and I only had a regular reseller that I’d paid for a year. I got so fed up of it that I decided to cut my losses and buy myself a VPS from a real reliable company. Sure it’s a bit more money a month but for me, that’s worth it to know my site won’t be going down and I won’t be having problems with the staff. The staff where I bought my VPS are so friendly and helpful. If they try to take the payment and it fails, they don’t suspend your site like most would, they just try again at another date which suits me perfectly (:

I absolutely love my VPS and don’t think I’d go back to any regular hosting again. And I’d definatly not bother going with any ‘hosting sites’ that are owned by teenyboppers and/or kids because they’ll just take your dollar and run.

I offer unlimited master resellers for $7.50 a month and I’ve had a couple of people buy one and they’ve had no problems and no downtime. The phrase ‘you get what you pay for’ is definatly true.

I hope that whatever company you choose, it works out for you

I can’t believe what’s happening to NLH too. It’s so sad to see such a good host (when Ems was around) to go down the drain like that. I didn’t know that Ems has not been online for a while since I’ve been in blogging way back 2004, so I kinda knew her as someone who’s very active. She has sooo many websites and the hosting business seems to be really one of her passion.

I was devastated with what happened to NLH :( it’s said Ems is not back, or will she be back? We all don’t know. The story of NLH is really unknown. I used to look up to them because they were really good for years already, as far as I know. Some hosting went off and on and they were there…but I guess not anymore.

I hope you’ll be able to fix all your sites Luana, I feel horrible just setting up my clients’ accounts @_@
