Inactive hostees
Posted By Luana on April 6, 2011
You will have to forgive me for the lack of activity. I’m trying to catch up with university classes – which is being made more difficult by such incompetent and non-caring teachers I won’t name here for privacy reasons >.< - and with websites of mine that need urgent re-installation and/or update. I’m still trying to assist NLH hostees in the transition (I’m hosting most of them now), and to give out tips and advice. I can’t be there 24/7 for obvious reasons, but I can assure you I’m never going to abandon any of my hostees.
Oh, regarding my subdomain hostees Madison and Roni: girls, I have deleted your accounts because you have not updated your sites in 6 months and/or have not replied to my emails in over a month. I’m sorry, but I won’t host people who don’t care about their sites to a point they don’t even reply to urgent messages from their host. I will certainly approve a re-application from you girls, but please make sure you are staying in touch this time.
I don’t mind inactivity (up to 1 year) as long as it’s motivated.
Anyway, have you ever heard about Compensation Lawyers in Australia? They are a collective of lawyers who dedicate their life to helping people from various cases (asbestos disease, road accidents, medical negligence, etc.) getting their compensation for their injuries, both physical or psychological. I like the idea of having a ‘collective’ of people doing the same thing, and helping others.
I believe that’s much better than single individual practicing alone, with a limited ability to work on more cases on the same time. Unlike many other jobs, I believe lawyers to work better as a team.
I’ll be around as much as I can. I’m using Twitter more than the usual lately, so you can also catch me there for important messages, or by email (Gmail).

Hi! My name is Luana. I'm a 26 years old Italian girl living in a province of Rome.

Oi!! I understand how you have uni classes to get taken care of, I never went to uni, but college classes were a pain in the bum. And you can’t just “skim by” in college, let alone uni, because it’s your future that’s being created, so the websites can be held on the back burner until you get your work done. (look at me, sounding like a parent).
Keep truckin’ though!
I’ve heard of people who’ve done stuff like that, but I didn’t know they were called that. I think that the world would be a better place if people traded their expertise with others, free of charge, in exchange for a favor. And not a sexual favor or anything demeaning, if it means helping out around their yard, so be it. But I think that’d be a lot less stressful than worrying about who owes you money, because anybody can give you money. Everybody has different skills though that are unique & can help each other out!

I’ve been trying to catch up with school also. It is a pain even just to miss one day of class, because then I fall behind. There was no need to explain your absense in my comment, I am constantly checking the sites I read for new entries, and when I read what happened I figured that it would be a huge pain.
I forgot to mention to you that I was in Italy during spring break, and it was amazing!
I will be posting pictures later on.
Hope your hosting issues are resolved soon.
xoxo

Oooh wow!
Well, if you come to Italy again in the near future, perhaps in the area of Rome, we may shake hands in person. :3 Hehe. That’d be lovely, even though my English isn’t great when pronounced, I fear. XD

Sometimes a hoster’s gotta do what a hoster’s gotta do Luu-chan!! When i still had hostees, most of them just went inactive and didn’t reply to my emails as well – so i zipped up their content and sent it back to them – besides having a not updated CMS hosted might spell security trouble hmm :s

Are you managing this hosting thing by yourself? It must be hard and exhausting because you have to do that in addition to your classes… I know exactly how that feels. Maybe you can ask someone who can volunteer their time and help you out?

Yeah… and I have received a help proposal from a friend, and my fiancee is actually trying to give me a hand when he has spare time.
However, things are better now… the only thing that saddens me the most is having lost a lot of my blogs’ contents because it wasn’t well cached by Google and I had no recent backups; it was all so sudden.
At least the hostees I offered a refuge to are doing alright, and none of us will have to worry for the time being (I hope). I’m installing automatic WordPress plugins everywhere on my sites anyway, and I’m going to suggest them to my hostees too, just in case something happens.
