Reflections over makeup
Posted By Luana on September 13, 2009
I’ve always had my ideas on women’s makeup and why most of us are so obsessed about it, but I would have never imagined to stumble upon a blog whose author thinks just the same as I do.
I’m talking about the entry titled The Real Reason Women Wear Makeup, on vahooo.com, a wonderful reflection on why makeup is often just a mask that women use to hide their real selves, in a society where natural beauty counts as uglyness, and is replaced by an artificial beauty that is reachable by normal human beings only with the help of makeup. That is, my dear babes… it’s because of society pressures, because most of us don’t feel ‘okay’ as ourselves, and we prefer to portray an image of us that isn’t really ours. And the society is indeed manipulating us in this way: this is a manipulation of a woman’s freedom to be herself even outside. Why men can be their true selves and women can’t? Have you ever thought over this, my darlings? I believe we should think more often over things we do normally, and see if they’re really natural or if they’ve just been ‘installed’ in us by the current western society.
